Kratom is a natural botanical native to Southeast Asia & part of the coffee family. It’s also known by its scientific name, Mitragyna speciosa. Natives of South east Asia have used Kratom for hundreds of years & recently introduced to America about 20 years ago.

Kratom is non-habit forming, unless taken extremely high doses for extended periods of time. If taken in excess, continuously over long periods of time, Kratom consumers may experience dependence, similar to caffeine dependence. There can also be some discomfort if taken daily and use is abruptly discontinued. This can be avoided by taking regular breaks and/or gradually tapering down consumption levels.

Kratom is not a drug, Kratom is not an opioid. Kratom is not a synthetic substance. Kratom is a safe herbal supplement most similar to tea and coffee than any other substances. Kratom behaves as a partial mu-opioid receptor agonist & binds to the same receptors as an opioid. Kratom contains no opioids, but it does bind to the same receptor sites in the brain. Chocolate, coffee, exercise and even human breast milk similarly hits these receptor sites.

Kratom is legal on a federal level & state level with the exception of six states & a few city/county bans. Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin have banned the sale of Kratom.

Kratom extracts are powerful concentrated forms of Kratom. They are usually made by brewing crushed or powdered Kratom leaves for prolonged periods of time to evaporate as much water as possible to produce a thick, dark paste, that contains a rich concentration of the main active ingredients found in the plant. These extracts can be further processed into a powder, liquid tincture or oil.
